The pop-up charity shop on Gloucester Road, Ross-on-Wye is constantly busy with people donating items and browsing the items on sale before making purchases. It is a great source of household items, clothes, bric a brac and many residents visit regularly.
However, this week was a special cause for celebration as, since it opened in 2016, over £100,000 has been raised for various charities and non-profit making groups.
Joyce Thomas, who regularly helps at the shop, presented Iris Price, who manages the pop-up shop with a bouquet of flowers on Friday, January 18th to thank her for her fantastic achievement.
The money has been raised for organisations including the Friends of Ross Community Hospital, Bridstow Guides, Lea School, the Ross and District branch of the Royal British Legion. Exentricity Youth Theatre, the Air Ambulance, Ross Preschool Playgroup and many more.
Last week the shop was raising funds for a Brain Tumour research charity and this week the proceeds will be going to Tudorville and District Community Centre for new equipment.
Joyce told the Gazette: “Ross is so fortunate to have so many volunteers doing valuable work for the community. Without Iris the shop would not have happened and the local charities would not have benefitted from the money they need. She added: “Iris is a fantastic member of the community and I am proud to be one of her volunteers. She works tirelessly to oversee the running of the shop and is extremely grateful for the enormous help she receives from numerous good friends.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
