The Weeping Window, featuring ceramic poppies is set to attract thousands of visitors to Hereford Cathedral this spring, but St Mary’s in Ross-on-Wye also intends to mark the end of World War II with an installation of poppies.

St Mary’ hopes to feature 300 poppies, which reflects the number of local men who died during the Great War, at an installation in November. These poppies will not be ceramic but knitted, crocheted, felted or made from paper. The organisers hope that lots of local people will want to get involved and everyone is invited to make a poppy. Patterns are available from the church office and finished poppies need to be returned to the church office by October 1st.

Poppies: Weeping Window, part of the installation ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ by the artist Paul Cumins and designer Tom Piper will be at Hereford Cathedral from March 14th - April 29th.
