ARE you looking for something to do during the summer?
Ross Baptist Church Art Group and two University of the Third Age art groups are coming together to hold a joint Art Exhibition, the second since restarting after the Covid pandemic lockdown.
Running from Tuesday, August 5 until Saturday, August 9, at the Ross Baptist Church on Broad Street, will open between 10:30am and 3:30pm each day. Entry is free.
All exhibitors are amateur artists of varying abilities, and the exhibition is held to give them a space to display their art and be proud of their work.
There should be something to cater for all tastes, and some of the artists will be present if you have any questions. A selection of the exhibition pictures will be for sale, and there will also be mounted pictures, cards and other items for sale based on the artists’ work, as well as a ‘have-a-go’ table for all ages.
There will be a grand opening by local artist Mike Skidmore at 10.30am on August 5.
Ross-on-Wye and District U3A has been active since 1992 and usually holds a general meeting, open to all members, at the Larruperz Centre on the third Monday of every month at 2.30 pm, the next being on September 15 with Nigel Metcalfe taking a nostalgic trip down the High Street.
Visitors will be made very welcome at the monthly meetings and are asked to give a voluntary donation of £2. Apart from the monthly meetings, there are periodic outings to places of local interest or historic buildings.
One of the art groups meet fortnightly on the first and third Friday afternoon at Bridstow Village Hall at 2pm; The second group meet at St Mary’s Garden Village Hub on the second and fourth Thursday of each month between 10am and noon.
