MADAM, firstly can I say how impressed I was with the youngsters of Ross on Halloween.

I must have had 40 or more trick or treaters at my door between 6pm and 8 o'clock on Saturday night, all dressed up in their fancy dress with their bags ready for goodies. All with excellent manners and grateful for whatever you gave them.

Not one group expected money (which is what I've experienced in other towns).

Towards the end of the night (just before 8 o'clock) I didn't have a lot of treats left, when around six 12(ish) year old boys knocked the door. First of all I held my finger to my lips and said: "I've got two little ones in bed just above us."

They said sorry in a whisper and went to turn away. I stopped them and gave them their treats - they were delighted just to be given the left overs of just a small lollypop each.

I didn't have any knocks at the door after 8 o'clock. I'm a new(ish) resident to Ross and can not express how pleased I am to have witnessed such a happy Halloween.
