The organisers of the Linton Festival, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2020, met with representatives from their sponsor organisations and the charities who benefit from the event on Thursday, December 5th.
Enjoying an evening of music and food at The Alma Inn, where the festival is held, the history of Linton Festival was discussed, as were the plans to make 2020’s bigger and better than ever before.
Festival chairman, David Lambert, said: “This year our nominated local charities benefited from a whopping £16,000 in sponsorship and donations raised by the festival.
“Of course, we couldn’t do it without the generous support of our local business sponsors who help to cover part of our overheads and advertise in our festival programme.”
Last year, festival-goers travelled from across Europe to enjoy the event, and more than 8000 pints were enjoyed.
Linton Festival’s sponsors include local organisations such as Reds Hair, Labels, The Alma Inn, Westons Cider and principal sponsor, Moat Contracting.
Ross-on-Wye based charity Hope Support Services, which has historically benefited from the festival, has used some of the donated money to provide residential trips for young people, many of whom visited the beach for the first time.
Some of the other charities and organisations which benefit from the money raised at Linton Festival include Air Ambulance, St. Michael’s Hospice, Linton Village Hall, Linton Brownies, 1st Newent Scout Group and Linton Church.
Using funds raised next year, Linton Festival organisers have also decided to support Herefordshire Mind. The local mental health charity, who work to ensure that no one should have to face a mental health problem alone, is grateful for the support.
The 2020 line-up which features an eclectic mix of artists includes Walter Trout, Grainne Duffy, the Counterfeit Stones and One Night of Queen.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
