Flying Colours, the print shop in Croft Court, lived up to its name on Wednesday, April 6th when a kestrel paid a visit.
Because the weather was hot staff propped the front door open to keep the air circulating.
After about half an hour there was a crash and lots of fluttering. "When we went to look a male kestrel was hanging onto the edge of one of our digital printers looking cross," said Simon Glover of Flying Colours.
"We tried to shoo it out and it decided to escape through the window while checking out the T-shirts. It then got stuck between the window blind and the window and I was able to pick it out and place it outside where it recovered and flew off."
However, this wasn't the end of the matter. Staff then heard some fluttering coming from behind the printer and rescued a collared dove which was unharmed.
Presumably the poor dove had been the kestrel's planned breakfast and it had seen an open window at Flying Colours as an escape route.
The doves in Croft Court can continue nesting in peace now the raptor has been frightened away.
