Waving, shaking hands, curtseying or bowing were a few of the tasks set for the entrants into the Carnival Prince and Princess competitions, held at the Larruperz Centre on Sunday, May 20th. The children were also judged on the warmth of their smile and their confidence.
The Ross Carnival Princess this year is Romerleigh who is nine years old. She was presented with the crown and sash by Tilly who was last year’s Princess. Her two Maidens are Ebony and Molly both aged 10.
There were five entries for this the very first Ross Carnival Prince Competition and this year’s Carnival Prince is Ben, aged seven. His two Consorts are Tyron aged seven and Daniel aged nine. Ben was presented with a sash and a crown to mark the occasion.
All the winners took home a commemorative cup and the Princess and Prince also received a £30 cheque each which will go towards their outfits.
The Carnival Committee would like to thank all who entered and also to the judges who took part, as well as the committee at the Larruperz for allowing them to use their facilities.
