Ross-on-Wye enjoyed the best carnival for many years with more floats, more stalls and more entertainment than ever before.

Crowds thronged the streets to watch the parade and then followed the procession to the carnival field which quickly filled with happy residents and visitors.

There was a fantastic community spirit as different groups and organisations joined together to enter the carnival or participated in sideshows and other activities on the field.

Elaine Redding was the overall wheelbarrow fancy dress winner as the Hungry Caterpillar, and Chrissie Ellis dressed as the Hungry Caterpillar entertained the children in the crowds as she made her way through the town.

The Carnival Prince, Daniel Welfare, and Princess, Phoebe Seaborn accompanied by the Mayor of Ross, Jane Roberts presented the prizes and the results are as follows;

Class 1 – 1st - Ross Pre-School Playgroup - Beauty and the Beast, 2nd - Mizz Twisted Cherry - Harry Potter.

Class 2 – 1st - Wyldewood Arts and Hope Support - Underwater (River Roots), 2nd - Woodedge - The Greatest Showman, 3rd - Gloucestershire Troopers - Star Wars.

Class 3 – 1st - Enviroability - 20 Year Celebration, 2nd - Walford Road - Wild Boar and Goblins.

Class 4 – 1st - Bridstow Guides and District- 101 Dalmatians, 2nd - Ross Court Care Home and Wyetots - Old People, Gnomes and Four Year Olds, 3rd - Dance Your Way - Cuban Carnival Cha Cha Cha.

Class 5 – 1st - Chrissy Ellis - The Hungry Caterpillar, 2nd - A Girl Accross the Ocean, 3rd - Cancer Research - Fairies and Elves.

Class 6 – 1st - Reginald Seabourne, 2nd - Ivan James - Bertie.

Class 7 – 1st - King Charles II - King Charles in the 21st Century, 2nd - The Axe and Cleaver.

Best Costume – Archie Plant - Ross Pre-School Playgroup.
