Dear Editor,
I am hoping to appeal, through your column, to your readers to gain some support for the Proms in the Park event on Sunday, July 22nd, at Ross Bandstand on Wye Street.
The Council sponsors a series of free concerts every Sunday from May 20th until the end of August. Our Proms event is a seven hour event bringing two choirs, a big band and a finale of a brass band this summer, all for free.
Cllr Rob Gibbs has kindly offered to help me decorate the bandstand with union flags the day before, but I am also looking for volunteers for the day to fulfil a number of roles.
This would include helping to mark out the car park for the bandsmen, marshalling cars, greeting and supporting the charity of the day, The Ross Horizon Centre, selling flags to audience members, and general litter picking and ensuring the safe running of the event. It is a large event and with favourable weather I do hope for a big audience to enjoy the music.
This is the second year the event has happened and despite a down-pour last year the atmosphere was amazing.
We are grateful to the Gazette for advertising our events in the ‘Whats On’ section. Please find us on facebook @bandsintheparkross or email [email protected] or leave your number with office 562373 for me, thank you.
Cllr H E Lerego
Ross-on-Wye
