Animal re-homing organisations in the local area have less than two weeks to apply for a grant of up to £10,000 from Support Adoption For Pets.
Three of the charity’s grant applications close on April 27th. These are for its £10,000 award, it’s sponsoring of a kennel or cattery which will be at a cost of £3,500 and its van applications for organisations needing new transport.
Amy Wilson, charity manager at Support Adoption For Pets said: “The deadline for our first three awards is fast approaching, so we are appealing for charities to get their applications in for consideration before April 27th.”
For its 10th Birthday this year, Support Adoption For Pets introduced a new grant scheme with a tiered structure, that in total will give away £1 million to animal re-homing organisations in the UK. Various amounts of financial aid are available in the scheme, with deadlines for different tiers throughout the year.
Amy added: “Our new scheme means that throughout the year there should be a grant relevant to every re-homing rescue in the country, big and small, starting with these.”
The applications closing first will be the £10,000 Award, Transporting Pets Award and the Sponsor a Kennel or Cattery Award.
For organisations that own their own land in the area, Support Adoption For Pets will award ten £10,000 grants to rescues for renovation projects. This can include enrichment paddocks, fencing, exercise areas or renovations to upgrade existing kennels, catteries and animal housings.
The Transporting Pets Award allows charities to purchase a van to transport the pets in their care. The vans will be fitted with cages and will be sign-written to include the rescues and Support Adoption For Pets logo.
The Sponsor a Kennel or Cattery Award is open to rescues who do not have their own rescue centre and therefore rely on the use of commercial kennels or a cattery to house the pets in their care.
Amy added: “We want to appeal to as many rescues as possible in offering financial aid as every re-homing centre is hugely worthwhile, particularly in its local area.”
