An elderly woman in her 80s was the victim of a purse snatcher in a quiet street in Ross on a Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened in Church Street, off High Street, at around 4pm on Sunday, July 26th.

The elderly victim had been returning home along Church Street from the shops when she became aware of a hand reaching around her left side. Her purse was then snatched from her left hand.

She turned around to see a white male, wearing a black hip length jacket and a black baseball cap, running back down Church Street, across the road and into the churchyard of St Mary's.

His direction of travel from there is unknown.

The black purse contained a Nectar card and a small amount of cash.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the suspect before the theft or running away afterwards or who may know his identity.
