Ross progressed to the semi-finals of the North Mids Shield after a dogged display, in energy sapping conditions, last Saturday at Greytree. They now play either Pershore or Droitwich.

Both teams started positively looking to move the ball at every opportunity, hoping to secure the advantage of scoring first. However it was defences that dominated the first quarter, with Jack Evans and Dave Mince putting in some big hits on the Shrewsbury ball carriers.

As the game entered the second quarter it was Ross who took control of the tie with a purple ten minute spell. Ross secured quality scrum ball on the half way and fly half Chay Brine chipped the ball into the Shrewsbury twenty two. As the ball stood up off the bounce it was Chay who re-gathered his kick and outpaced the Shrewsbury full back to score wide out on the left. Full match report in this week's Gazette.
