West Mercia Police confirmed that a man was arrested for a racially aggravated offence under section 5 of the Public Order Act. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. The police spokesman was unable to confirm whether the man arrested was a member of the hunt or a spectator.
People on the internet are claiming to know the identity of the man but The Ross Gazette was unable to contact the person named in internet reports by the time we went to press.
A spokesman for the Ross Harriers told the Ross Gazette: "The Ross Harriers are aware of an incident on Saturday and are co-operating with the police enquiries but have no further comment to make."
The Ross Harriers held a very successful meet at the Royal Hotel in Ross on Boxing Day and there were no reports of any incidents.
