Members of the Ross-on-Wye Branch of the Royal British Legion are once again celebrating the great support they receive from local residents, as well as the hard work of all their volunteers.

They were presented with the Kyrle Pope Cup, for the sixth year in a row, which is surely a record, at the Annual Conference. The Kyrle Pope Cup is presented to the most efficient branch in the County. Margaret Jones, the Secretary for the Ross branch told the Ross Gazette:?“It is wonderful to have won again, and it shows just how much support we have in the area.”

Ross also received the Major Green Challenge Cup, this is for the largest percentage increase in membership, and Margaret said she is very grateful to everyone who helped achieve this.

She said:?“These cups are in recognition of all the hard work done by the committee and our volunteers – these people make this possible.”

The Cups were presented by Graham Aplin who is County Chairman as well as being a committee member at the Ross branch. He said these cups are also for the community, their support at all events made winning possible. It was a very proud moment for all who attended and of course a special moment for Graham Aplin.

President Air Cdre Viv Warrington received the Kyrle Pope Cup and Secretary Margaret Jones received the Major Green Challenge Cup. Richard Ceci, the Ross Standard Bearer also received a long service award together with two of his colleagues, Gordon Fellows and Ray Farmer. Richard has been Standard Bearer for ten years attending all ceremonial services, funerals et cetera, in and around Ross-on-Wye. Margaret said:?“He is a true example of what the RBL is all about -Service Not Self.”
