Have you always wanted to be able to recycle your empty crisp packets? There is a local company which has started producing compostable packets while all the others are simply sitting in landfill sites for many years.

However, there is an eco-friendly solution in Ross. Lyndsey Howard, who runs Rainforest Exotics on the Haigh Industrial Estate has set up an Eco Shop in the same premises.

Lyndsey is very passionate about recycling and cutting down on single use plastic. She originally stared by introducing measures in the shop, such as using paper or reusable bags. Then she started to sell bamboo cups to help get rid of single use plastic mugs. The recycling of crisp packs is just another initiative she has taken on board.

Any brand can be placed in the box then when there is enough they are transported to Terracycle where they are extruded into plastic pellets before being turned into something more useful.

Lyndsey told the Ross Gazette: “I am always looking for ways to avoid sending things to landfill, this is only a start but word is already spreading.” She said that one visitor had arrived with a pile of crisp packets which she had been saving in the hope that they could be recycled.

As Rainforest Exotics is open seven days a week this is a convenient way to do your bit if you love the contents of crisp packets but not the waste.
