VOTING for the two by-elections in Ross-on-Wye saw over 30 per cent of the electorate visit the polling station in the town council’s East and West wards.
Victory in Ross East went to Reform UK’s Richard McEvoy beating Liberal Democrat’s Emma Vigus by just 32 votes.
Saskia Harrison, an independent candidate, won the Ross West by election by a margin of 102 votes over Reform UK’s Matt Symonds.
Both winning candidates will formally become members of Ross Town Council at its next meeting in September.
Mr McEvoy thanked all those that had supported him throughout the campaign and added: “My election will give an opportunity for different views to be heard at council meetings and hopefully make a change.”
Ms Harrison also thanked the team who had supported her during her campaining and added: “I believe that people want a change and they voted for me. This is a total local victory and it’s thanks to those who took the time to vote, is the reason why I’m here. I will not let people down.”
