Visits from the twin towns of Condé and Betzdorf to Ross usually involve plenty of fun and it was no different last weekend when members of the Betzdorf Twinning Association spent the weekend in Ross. However the weekend also included a very special, and poignant, wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial.
On Saturday morning Bürgermeister Bernd Brato and the new Mayor of Ross, Councillor Chris Bartrum were joined by the representative of SSAFA, Pat Burbidge and Birgitt Wichmann of Betzdorf to lay a wreath.
Former Mayor David Ravenscroft told the Gazette that although Ross residents had placed a wreath in Germany this was the first time residents of Betzdorf had taken part in an act of remembrance in Ross.
