IN this Centenary Year of the start of the First World War, local residents of Welsh Newton and Llanrothal will be performing a specially commissioned play based on the experiences of the men and women caught up in the events of 1914 - 1918. The play has been given special pertinence, however, by the timely discovery of a chest full of WWI artefacts.
On the night of the performance there will be an exhibition of the recently discovered collection of WW1 memorabilia; the only chance to see these artefacts before they are gifted to the Imperial War Museum.
Remembering Them – Welsh Newton to Wipers' will be performed at Welsh Newton Village Hall on Remembrance Sunday, November 9th at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5.00 and all profits will go to military charities – The Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes and the Museum of the Royal Welsh. There will also be a raffle of WW1 related objects.
