A number of special Remembrance events will be held in around Ross during Remembrance Week.
On Thursday, November 6 at 11.40 am, pupils from Ashfield Park and St Joseph’s Primary School will be joined by the Mayor, Town Councillors and Staff and Members of the Ross & District Branch of the Royal British Legion in St Mary’s Churchyard to commemorate those who fell in the Korean War and Falklands Conflict as well as to mark the passing of 22 Chelsea Pensioners who died in Ross during their evacuation from London during WW2.
On Saturday, November 8 at 10am, a Remembrance Service will be held in St Michael’s Church, Brampton Abbots, to be followed by a short Service of Thanksgiving at the Remembrance Shrine at 11am at First Avenue, Greytree.
On Sunday, November 9, Serving Military Personnel, Veterans, Army and Air Cadets as well as Scouts and Guides will parade under the watchful eye of Warrant Officer Clinton Marsh RAF, at the Police Station on Old Maids Walk at 10am before marching to the War Memorial on The Prospect.
Everyone is cordially invited to meet at the Prospect from 10.30am, where we will be joined by Civic Dignitaries and representatives of a host of Town Organisations and Clubs, for the Town’s formal commemoration of those that have lost their lives in conflict. The service will be conducted by the Rector, Reverend Prebendary Kelvin Price and the RBL Chaplain, Canon Freda Davies. This will be followed immediately by a short Remembrance Sunday Service to be held in St Mary’s Church, after which refreshments will be served.
On Tuesday, November 11 , a Short Act of Commemoration, including a 2 Minute Silence, will be held at the Market House at 11am to mark the signing of the Armistice 107 years ago.
