Internationally renowned local sculptor Walenty Pytel’s latest commission has been for an abstract steel sculpture of the Lloyds of London building. Again. Initially the first one was ordered by Lloyds over 20 years ago and given to one of their clients.

Commissioned by Lloyds broker, C J Coleman & Company. This is the fourth sculpture in 20 years to be ordered by them for their clients in Denmark & USA, each have been similar but of different aspects. Some of Walenty’s other commissions are resident in Dubai, USA, Japan, New Zealand as well as spread throughout the UK in private and public collections, in homes, gardens and urban spaces.

Walenty commented that it is a great honour to be invited to work on commissions for people producing something that they love and can keep.

Walenty’s work is generally recognised for his sculptures of birds and beasts however the Jubilee Fountain outside the Houses of Parliament was a slight detour from his normal single figures. But abstract work has always played a part in his life with sculptures such as wall murals in steel and others made in his earlier days of steel and resin.

The detail he puts into his work is time consuming and a very real tribute to the animals and birds that he painstakingly models.

Group tours of the Walenty Pytel Gallery at Hartleton are available by request.
