Residents at Ross Court Care Home have been enjoying football sessions with the coaches from local team, Ross Juniors FC U11s.
Jim Loftus and Gareth Nutt from Ross Juniors offered to head along to the home and lead the first of their regular training sessions. After some warm-up exercises, residents learnt how to control the ball while passing sideways and across the room to each other, before setting up the football nets where things became competitive.
As residents cooled down, Jim and Gareth talked with them about their football memories, discovering that resident Brenda’s husband used to be a referee and resident Michael played on a team in his younger days.
Trying on some football shirts, Barbara suggested the home have a team name and everyone agreed that ‘Ross Courtiers’ was perfect.
Ross Court Care Home are now on the lookout for someone to design them their own football shirts, and are looking forward to further sessions with Jim and Gareth, who are going to be bringing one of their U11s teams in at the start of November to meet everyone.
