WHEN residents of Hope Mansell realised that the road through the village was underwater on Saturday, January 9th, they took matters into their own hands.
Caroline Elmitt, who lives in the village, told the Ross Gazette:?“We had a massive downpour on Saturday and the road through the village was awash. The photo is of our neighbours who turned out on Sunday morning and managed to clear the drain under the road by rodding it, and digging out the stones and silt.”
Residents in other areas of South Herefordshire were also affected by the flooding on Saturday; residents of Smallbrook Gardens in Ross also sent in a photo of the flood there.
The weather is now forecast to be drier; a little rain is expected today (Wednesday, January 13th), but the rest of the week should remain colder, but dry.
