Residents concerned about speeding traffic in Archenfield Road, and other residential areas in Ross-on-Wye are being urged to contact the Town Council.

Councillor Richard Mayo wants residents, especially those who have commented on Facebook reports of the issue, to contact the Town Council directly with their concerns.

He said the more people who get in touch, the more evidence can be presented to Herefordshire Council to ask for speed indicator devices (SIDS) to be placed at locations around to the town.

SIDS are flashing signs which alert drivers to their speed.

Cllr Mayo will also ask Ross Town Council to consider purchasing their own SID to place in areas where there is concern.

A resident of Archenfield Road told the Ross Gazette that 40 years ago a small boy was killed on this road. She said:?“When I saw a little boy nearly knocked over recently I knew I had to do something.” She added that she is asking everyone to contact the Town Council by email, if possible, with their request for a SID and their reasons for asking for it.

Cllr Mayo said the Town Council is consulting Highways and the Road Safety Partnership about where to put the SIDS, including Archenfield Road, and it would be helpful if residents could say where they would like to see them.

Either write to the The Corn Exchange, High Street, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 5HL or [email protected]

Councillor Phil Cutter told the Ross Gazette SIDS would be a reminder to traffic to slow down, primarily for children who attend Ashfield Road but for all the residents who use this busy road.”
