The inaugural tournament for the Richard Grindon Memorial Trophy took place at Ross Tennis Centre on Sunday, October 18th.
Twelve ladies and twelve gentlemen entered. The pairings were drawn out of a hat. Two groups of six played a round robin format. The semi-finalists were Doreen Griffin and Jamie Farr who played Sarah Drake and Tim Barnard, and Gaynor Raine and Allan Meek against Rosie Farr and Richard Jones. The finalists were Gaynor and Allan versus Sarah and Tim. A close and exciting match ensued, which kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. Sarah and Tim eventually triumphed with a tight 6 - 5 win.
Nibbles and bubbly were enjoyed by all before the presentation of the trophies by Nathan Grindon.
