MADAM, I am Chairman of the Forest Dean Motorcycle Club. As club we are looking for your support in publicising what is a different and possibly unique charity fund raiser. In past years we have picked a day to organise a charity rideout collecting a donation from each rider but with the great British weather many have ended up as a virtual wash out.
This year I have come up with something a little different. We have set a route through the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley of about 70 miles using A and B roads. Making sure speed limits were scrupulously observed I rode this route and recorded my time down to the second. This time is now in a sealed envelope. Throughout the summer from June 1st to October 6th anybody and everybody is invited to ride this same route and record their time. They are requested to register that time with us at the FODMCC for a donation of £5 and on October 28th the time closest to our preset time will win £50.
All details of this are on our website http://www.freewebs.co/fodmcc">www.freewebs.co/fodmcc complete with the list of motorcycle dealerships who will accept your recorded time. Please put your £5 donation in an envelope, seal it then write your recorded time to the second along with your contact details on the outside and either drop it to us at the FODMCC or put it in the box provided at your nearest participating dealership. All proceeds are to be split between two charities which are The Midlands Air Ambulance and the National Association for Bikers with Disabilities.
