Weston-under-Penyard Primary School, who have been celebrating their 150th anniversary throughout 2013, is excited to be concluding their year with a Royal Visit.
On November 26th the school will be honoured to welcome HRH the Duke of Kent to meet pupils, staff and former members.
As part of the 150th celebrations a new stained-glass window has been commissioned for the school hall, which the Duke will be asked to unveil during his visit. Weston School has a strong tradition of music and performance, and it is planned that the school orchestra will play for the occasion.
This will also echo the first known event at the school, a concert in 1863 by friends of the then Rector, Edward Hawkshaw, when the floral decorations in the hall took the form of Royal monograms.
Headmaster Brian Bird said: "I am absolutely delighted that we have the opportunity of such a high-profile visit which will bring our year-long celebration of 150 years since the foundation of our school to a glorious close."
All former pupils and staff of the school are invited to join present pupils and parents at Weston for the occasion.
