Madam, In your issue of October 28th your response to a letter claiming that over 30 riot vans, etc, had been present on the night of the BNP dinner was to say that your reporter had only seen three vans and a dozen policemen. Your correspondent was correct - the majorityof the vans were parked at John Kyrle School - I counted over 20 vans there. I dread to think what the cost of the policing was to council tax payers.
On a related matter. The Chase Hotel claims that a) it had a legally binding contract to hold the dinner; and b) that the person who booked it had not revealed (or had falsely named) the organisation making the booking. Surely the latter point nullifies the former.
