ON June 18th Ross First XI entertained Barnt Green at the Park in a fixture kindly sponsored by Bradfords Building Supplies. Barnt Green won the toss and invited Ross to bat first. The decision seemed the right one as the Barnt Green opening bowlers reduced Ross to 10 for 3 very quickly. The Ross batsmen edged the score to 30 before Dan Barnard (30) and Nick Tregaskes (26) started to rebuild the innings with some strong hitting and good running between the wickets. Towards the end of the innings Andrew Tingle (17) made some lusty blows, including a massive straight 6, to help move the Ross total to 159 all out after 46.3 overs. Pick of the Barnt Green bowlers was Adam Brownhill (10-1-26-4) with Maxwell Edwards (14.3-7-27-2) and William Neale (7-1-15-2) supporting well. See the full match report in this week's Gazette.
