Ross Hockey Club 1sts travelled away to play Lansdown A and triumphed with a 4 - 1 victory, which keeps them at the top of Hereford & Gloucester Division 1.

Although Ross looked confident, the home team had other intentions, and wanted to cause as much trouble as possible. The first half kept both teams busy in defence. Luke Ward, Richard Jennison, Dave Skyrme, and Jack Wilkinson worked hard, keeping the Lansdown attackers at bay. But Andy Ridgway was called into action more than he would have liked.

The attackers Adrian Williams and Geraint Morris struggled to score, all their attempts were defended well by the opposition. With neither team managing to take the lead both sides were starting to become unnerved. The home team had a few chances on goal, they were awarded two short corners in quick succession, Ross defended well, thwarting both attempts. It was 0 - 0 at the half time whistle.

When Ross returned to the pitch they had a different approach and were determined to take the lead. Williams gave his team that boost early on with a reverse stick shot which screamed into the goal.

Ross were now out in front and hungry for more. The midfielders, Tom Walton, Sam Warner, Nick Clarke, Kristian Franklin and Matt Saunders helped attacker Phil Evans to claim a goal shortly afterwards. Ross were then called back to defend another short corner, and once again the home team couldn't score.

With both teams starting to tire, Ross managed to get a short corner and Saunders found himself a neat spot and grabbed a goal for himself. Lansdown A had a few more short corners but still had no goals, becoming more agitated they started to make mistakes, and before long Evans was claiming his second goal after being left unmarked.

Finally the home side retaliated, rallying up one last attack they claimed a goal in the dying seconds of the game. The final whistle blew leaving the final score at 4-1 to Ross. Luke Ward was awarded the South Hereford Motorcaravan Centre Ltd Man of the Match for his great defensive teamwork and scorching runs up and down the pitch.
