After a lengthy rain delay on Saturday, August 1st, which rendered the main Ross ground unplayable, the Ross groundsman hurriedly prepared the Tennis Meadow pitch to enable a reduced (35 overs) match to take place on a non-turf wicket.
The visitors, Old Elizabethans, won the toss and invited Ross to bat. Conditions were poor at the start for both teams with a wet ground and occasional spots of rain. However, the day gradually brightened up to reveal a nail-biter of a match.
