After a very difficult year when members thought the Ross Branch of the Royal British Legion might close they have won an award for being one of the strongest branches in the county. At the Royal British Legion Herefordshire County Conference the Ross Branch was awarded the Kyrle Pope Cup, for being the most effective branch within the county on Saturday January 21st.
It was in October last year that the Gazette reported fears that the local branch faced closure. A plea was made asking more people to come forward to help the dedicated few continue the work of the Legion.
Members of the Committee, Fred Jones, Brian and Sue Lampert and Margaret Jones were delighted to receive the trophy on behalf of the Branch. They said they would like to thank the people of Ross for their support.
