Greg Powell, an active member of Ross Lions saw that the Lions Club from Shirley were collecting Christmas cards for St Giles Hospice in Lichfield and thought that Ross-on-Wye could help.

For every 10,000 cards collected, the hospice earns cash as well as a new tree to plant. Greg posted a message on Facebook, put a poster in The Royal Hotel and Tap House and asked everyone to bring their Christmas and greetings cards for recycling to Morris Bricknell Estate Agents in Gloucester Road.

Both he and Norman Bricknell were amazed by the response, with the final number of cards collected in excess of 20,000. They are very grateful to everyone who took the time to bring their cards to the office, especially the team at Dawleys who donated an incredible quantity. Greg hopes to repeat the collection next year.
