MOMENTUM is building for the revamped Ross Carnival to take place on August 1.
Councillor Danny Lister told Ross Town Council at Monday’s meeting that the events following the parade in the Rope Walk area had attracted a great number of stall holders and commercial operators to take part.
Cllr Lister emphasised that the carnival was a family event and therefore the need for alcohol wasn’t required and pointed out that there were a number of pubs trading within the area.
Cllr Lister added: “However, despite everything we are lowish in numbers taking part in the parade and we could do with a few more organisations to take part in this revamped event.
“There are Town Council grants of £100 available for organisations who would like to take part in the parade.”
Other events taking part include the Friends of Ross Library hosting a second-hand book sale at the biggest community event of the season.
Go and have a chat with the volunteers at the stall and maybe take a look. You may just find that book you’ve always wanted to read. All proceeds of the day on our stall will go towards the garden project.
The area’s four-legged friends are also being invited to enter the Ross Carnival Dog Show.
The Dog Show is a new feature for the revived carnival held at 11am on carnival day and promises to be a friendly competition for dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages.
Whether your dog is a handsome veteran, a rescue superstar, a freshly pampered, or you simply look uncannily alike, there's a class waiting for you.
Entry is just £2 per class or three classes for £5, so why not give your canine companion a chance to shine?
