The Ross-based charity, In Their Shoes, provides help to children needing mental health support, and their families. Since its small beginnings in 2017, it has grown and its services have never been in more demand than today. However, the charity is facing a crisis as the Ryefield Centre, where they hold weekly support meetings is to close in the new year.

The charity has been looking for an alternative venue but this has not been easy. Co-founder, Jo Parsons told the Ross Gazette: “We have been looking for about eight months now but it is not easy, we are really hoping that someone can help.

“The group meets on a Wednesday between 4pm and 6pm but most halls are unsuitable as the children have sensory issues with light and noise.” She said that what the charity would really like is somewhere to rent which “we could call our own” as the children don’t like change.

“Integrated support in a caring and relaxed setting is crucial to the well being of our children and their families,” she added. ?“Awareness of mental health and the issues it has on people’s lives has never been greater. We are seeing this in the demand for our help, which continues to rise”.

The charity also acts as advocates in professional meetings, provides signposting to other organisations and offers professional support and fun activities.
