MADAM, Through your letters page I would like to pay tribute and give thanks to the Ross Choristers for their excellent concert which was recently held in aid of the Mayor's charity – Soldiers, Seaman, Airmen, Families Association otherwise better known as SSAFA Forces Help.
The concert, which was unashamedly patriotic in flavour, raised the magnificent sum of £1200.00 for the charity, all of which will be used for the needs of our clients within Ross and the whole of Herefordshire.
Established for over 126 years the organisation is at the forefront of the delivery of forces charity benefits to the deserving needs of past and present servicemen and women and their children.
Much of our work goes unseen and unheard but as a result of the publicity generated through the work of the Mayor, Councillor David Ravenscroft, and the efforts of groups of people like the Choristers we are becoming better known. More importantly the town folk of Ross and the surrounding area will hopefully remember us when they become aware of servicemen and their families who are in need of assistance.
Many thanks
Pat Burbidge [Mr], Divisional Secretary
SSAFA Forces Help, South Herefordshire
