On a visit to Conakry, Guinea, in February 2014, Ross teacher Carol Soble and her husband (and now Ross Town Councillor) Adrian found themselves helping a school run by a Christian charity.

The trip to West Africa was intended to be a holiday, but when offered the opportunity to visit the local Jubilee School, Carol could not resist.

Carol said: "I was both shocked and amazed when I visited the school. Most Guineans receive just one and a half years of poor quality state education, but the Jubilee School offers a full, English language education to poor children from 3-18 years.

"Although the school is very poorly equipped by western standards and in constant need of funds, it offers a life changing opportunity for the 400 children who attend".
