Brighterkinds Ross Court residents were delighted to be asked to participate in St Mary’s Church annual Christmas Tree Festival.
After a number of afternoons talking about Christmas it was decided that the tree should reflect memories of Christmas past and be decorated accordingly.
Handmade paper lanterns, peg doll angels and tissue paper flowers were made with love, and stockings knitted to contain the gifts which Father Christmas used to bring, an apple, orange and nuts.
Memories of candles, newspaper hats and homemade toys were added to the display, complete with a poem written by the residents at a recent poetry session with Clare Lockley from Herefordshire Library Services.
The resulting tree attracted an enormous amount of attention, especially from the pupils of the town’s primary schools, who sat to listen to the stories and memories being shared by Mary McCory, Margaret Brewin and Win Reynolds.
