when the sun was shining, earlier in the season, Ross Cricket Club hosted an evening match for their local sponsor, EDMO.

Last year a generous donation from EDMO enabled the club to purchase an essential piece of grounds maintenance kit - the Bowdry - which is used to suck up water from the pitch after downpours - and last year we had a lot of those!

EDMO's generous support meant that the club played four leagues games last year which - without the new Bowdry - would have had to have been called off due to excess water on the square.

For the Sponsor's match the sun was shining, the temperature was over 22C and the sky was cobalt blue - perfect weather for cricket and for spectating!

The EDMO XI was made up of a committed bunch of individuals, turning up early to prepare themselves physically and mentally and they all spent a good spell at net practice, limbering up and perfecting their outswingers!

A 'scratch' invitational Ross XI opened the batting. Andrew Bevan (28*) retired with Rob Kyle being caught (11), bringing No 3 Andrew Tingle to the crease to add (18). Charles Hiram (12) and David Skyrme (25*) kept the score ticking along, contributions also came from Stuart Tucker (11) to nudge Ross to 122 for 5.
