Two Ross men have been sentenced for their part in a drug smuggling gang. Nigel Powell, 52, of Hom Green near Ross-on-Wye, received 17 years in prison at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, December 19th, for conspiracy to import and supply class A and class B drugs.

Stephen Jones, 54, of Broad Street, Ross-on-Wye was sentenced to four years and six months imprisonment for conspiracy to import and supply class B drugs.

A police spokesperson told the Ross Gazette: "This was part of a large scale conspiracy to bring in a large quantity of drugs into our force area. We know the harm that drugs cause and take these offences extremely seriously. We welcome this sentence and hope it sends a clear message that we will not tolerate drug dealing activity in our communities."
