ROSS CC First XI bounced back from the disappointment of a heavy defeat at Martley the previous week by producing a fine all round performance to beat Old Elizabethans by nine wickets at The Park on Saturday. The match balls were kindly sponsored by Target Marketing and PR of Cheltenham.

With the promise of rain interruptions, Ross won the toss and chose to bowl. The opening bowlers, Andrew Bevan (12-2-36-4) and Bruno Warwick (7-1-19-1), both took early wickets and backed up by some excellent ground fielding the visitors were reduced to 49-4. After an accurate spell from Charles Hiram, James Tiffen 10-0-44-2) and Gabriel Warwick (7.3-2-24-2) made good use of a wicket which offered some slow turn and Old Elizabethans were all out for 153 in the 44th over.

In reply Ross never looked in any trouble and despite losing James Tiffen (12) with the score on 18.

An unbroken second wicket stand of 136 between Jack Evans and Bruno Warwick saw the home side to victory with 20 overs to spare. Evans finished with 47 not out and Warwick 77 not out, both batsmen showing great maturity and application as Ross picked up 20 much needed points to lift themselves to fifth in the Worcestershire County League Division 4 South table.
