Ross for Refugees, whose aim is to provide donations to refugees in a camp in Calais, held their second public meeting on Tuesday, September 15th. During the meeting, more volunteers were welcomed into the group.

Gemma Jones and Ruth Worgan, the co-founders of the group, delivered a presentation, where they explained their ethos and mission statement. They explained that although Ross for Refugees was their initial idea, the group has since grown and they are very grateful to the wider community for donations of items and time.

The group are planning to have a presence in Ross-on-Wye Town centre very soon, so people can find out more about their aims, and donate items if they wish.

A current drop off point for donations is the Ryefield Centre. Items can be dropped off here on a Monday or Tuesday. Items can also be donated at the Globetrotter Coffee House in Broad Street, from Tuesday through until Sunday.

Beyond Storage have generously donated a container to the group to enable sorting and packing securely, so items that are dropped off at one of these donation points will later be transported to the larger storage facility.

The group have all the drivers they need to take donations to Calais later this year, but donations are needed to fund the trip; to pay for fuel and to purchase the ferry tickets for the drivers.
