THE Ladies Section AGM was held at the club on Monday November 8th at which the prizes for the various annual trophies were awarded. Jose Wilson handed over her Lady Captain's badge to Pam Duke with good wishes for her captaincy of the Ladies Section in 2011.
The Lady Captain's drive on Tuesday 9th was blessed with dry, though cold and windy, weather. After a celebratory breakfast of Bucks Fizz and bacon baps in the clubhouse, The Men's Captain, Graham Smith, escorted Pam to the first tee where she was greeted by a replica South African Garden of proteas, reminiscent of her former homeland. After a very respectable drive in, the new Lady Captain, accompanied by Jose Wilson, previous Lady Captain, and Amanda Marshall, Vice Captain, led the field in a 1-2-3 Waltz competition. The winners were Wendy Harris, Shan Powell and Pauline Talty with a fine 81 pts, 2nd Pat Johnson, Sheila Hatherall and Dinah Johnson with 73 pts and third Di Honey, Ellie Peake and Jean Ovens with 71 pts.
