Ross Juniors U10s continued their impressive run of form, winning six out of the last seven games, by reaching the final of the U10s Mailes Cup which is to be played at Hereford United's Edgar Street ground sometime in May.
The semi final at Pegasus Juniors on Saturday had everything a fan could wish for.
Ross played a very good first half with Finn, TJ, Harry and Lewis creating a number of good chances which they just couldn't quite convert. Pegasus took the lead when a long range shot was saved by Jake only for the rebound to be tucked home by the Pegasus striker.
The boys regrouped at half time with the feeling that if they got one goal they would go and win it.
With time ticking by, and a real battling performance typified by James and Will's 'you will not pass', defending, Toby broke down the right. His shot was parried by the keeper to Rob who was on hand to ram the ball home. The large away contingent couldn't hide their delight and it was game on.
Extra time was played with both sides getting a little nervous about the prospect of penalties. Jake showed what a great shot stopper he is by saving three of the Pegasus penalties and the winning penalty was tucked home by Tom P, triggering wild celebrations from all involved.
This was a great achievement by all of the boys and a just reward for two years of consistently good performances. It also makes up for some bad luck they have had in previous key matches.
The team and its supporters expect Ross to be deserted on final day with the team attracting large support for their big day out. The coaches are very proud of all the team: Jake, Harry, Will, James, TJ, Tom P, Toby, Finn, Rob and Lewis.
