After coming second in the Ross 6-a-side and losing on penalties in the semi final of the Fownhope 6-a-side, Ross Under 8s managed to go one better by winning a very competitive Hinton tournament on Saturday 27th June. The boys started brilliantly defeating Hinton 1-0 in a very tough opening game. The boys then cruised past Prestigne, Lads Club and Leominster to reach the final, Tommy ran the midfield throughout, the defence of Harry, Nathaniel and Liam were focused and some great finishing from Luke, Lewis and Elliot being the highlights. Lewis' goal was pure Dennis Bergkamp.
The final was against Phoenix, Ross were up against it and in fairness Phoenix were the stronger team but Ross who had not conceded a goal all tournament defended stoically. Harry made the tackle of the tournament to deny a last minute goal, Liam, Matt and Luke bolstered the midfield and Elliot in goal was unbeatable. The game finished 0-0 so went into golden goal, from nowhere the excellent and ever improving Lewis popped up to slot home the winner.
The boys were delighted with their medals and their achievements. Next season looks to be promising for an ever improving side.
