Ross & District Labour Party members are concerned about people who are going to struggle this Christmas. Many of us are experiencing the combined impact of wage deflation and price increases. This is resulting in many more people experiencing poverty, even if they are working.
At this time of year, we are surrounded by pressures to create a special time and to provide all that is ‘needed’ to do this. For those living in poverty, this causes a great deal of mental and emotional anguish. For these reasons, Ross and District Labour Party have decided to support the Community Larder charity (Ross Food Bank), as their way of supporting those most in need.
A member of the branch told the Ross Gazette:?“Many of us may be feeling powerless to stop the relentless degradation of our public services, particularly the temporary closure of the Ross Minor Injuries Unit, at an especially busy time of year.
However, this collection is an opportunity for the people of Ross to show that we are prepared to help.”
Donations to the Community Larder can be made at the Labour Party Stall in the Market Place on December 16th, 9am – 1.30pm.
