Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision which happened on the A40 near Ross Labels at 10.10am on Friday, February 15th.

A red Volkswagen Golf and a black KTM Supermoto motorcycle were involved in a collision just after 10am, near the junction for the M50.

The rider of the motorcycle, believed to be a 22 year old man from Ross, was flown to Selly Oak Hospital by the West Midlands Ambulance Service, with arm, leg and back injuries while the driver of the Golf was uninjured. An ambulance crew and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham also attended.

PC Jonathan Lynes is investigating the circumstances of the collision. He said: "It is believed that another car may have been in the area at the time the crash happened.

"All we know about this car is that it was silver in colour and that is was travelling in the same direction as the two other vehicles, which was away from Ross-on-Wye and towards the motorway junction.

"We are keen to speak to the driver of this silver car as they may have seen something which could help us with our investigation. I would urge that person to call us, along with anyone else who witnessed the crash or any of the vehicles involved shortly before the collision happened."

Anyone with information can call police on 0300 333 3000 quoting reference 196S 150213.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The motorcyclist, a man in his twenties, had back pain, fractures to his right arm, a suspected left leg injury and a suspected pelvic injury.

"He was fully immobilised including the use of a pelvic splint and was given pain relief. He was flown to the major trauma centre at Bristol Frenchay Hospital."

An RAF regiment which happened to be passing by, on a bus, also stopped and assisted the Police as they filtered traffic into one lane to deal with the incident.
