Madam, I have followed with interest the pictures and correspondence, in The Ross Gazette, about the shop in High Street, now known as Ross Old Books and Prints.
In 1910, my Grandfather - Mr Charley(after a Dr Charley in the Forest of Dean!) Constance, came down from London, where he had a Music School/Shop in Kilburn, to open this very shop as a Music Shop.
It ran very successfully, and eventually moved over the road to a bigger premises, which is now a Hairdressers.
Our family all originated from Longhope, so he wanted to open up a branch somewhere near his homeland.
The shop ran in High Street, until his death in 1946.
John A Constance, Ross
