A new children’s book by local author Brian Jackson – ‘The Butterfly Princess’ – a Fantasy for Children had its official launch on Saturday.

It is based on a story that Brian made up for his young daughter and features a witch, a Faerie Queen and a dragon, with strong dramatic scenes beautifully illustrated by Phoenix Youth Theatre’s Samuel Callen.

Now it has been published in paperback. The launch was held on Saturday evening, December 3rd at the Phoenix Theatre, with music to accompany extracts from the book while the colourful illustrations by Samuel were displayed on the theatre’s cinema screen.

‘The Butterfly Princess’ is Brian’s fifth book but his first aimed at the children’s market, (his others are family sagas) and was received with great enthusiasm by everyone who was there; all the books on display were sold and orders taken. ‘The Butterfly Princess’ is available to buy from Amazon or to download direct to your Kindle.’

The story is based around the butterflies which are being sacrificed to achieve the witch’s plan to release the dragon, Gringomel from his long imprisonment.

The Faerie Queen sends emissaries to help but there are terrible dangers to face before the Land of Faerie can be saved.
