ROSS-on-Wye is set to host cyclists from near and far who are members or friends of the Cancer Club.

Most of the men taking part in the cycle ride have been diagnosed with cancer and have found this club invaluable in providing a place to get men talking about their diagnosis.

The Cancer Club is a charity on a mission to make life better and easier for men with cancer and helps people to enjoy life and have fun by connecting them both in person and online in supportive environments and through the medium of sport.

Paul Middleton had been arranging the event in Ross-on-Wye, but sadly he passed away a few weeks ago and Amanda, his wife, will take his place on the bike ride in his memory.

Paul wanted other men diagnosed with cancer to know about the support group who can offer so much in person and on-line.

The cycling event will take place on Saturday, September 12 setting off from the Market House at 9am and is open to everyone, both seasoned cyclists and newcomers. Participants will follow a relaxed and enjoyable route through the surrounding countryside.

This year's event has been made possible with the generous support of the Card Factory Foundation, helping The Cancer Club deliver its mission of combining physical activity with social connection for people living with, and beyond cancer, through fitness friendship and shared experiences.

This event follows the success of last year's popular Tour de 4 Ride led by Sir Chris Hoy which inspired many to get involved in cycling for well-being and community spirit.

It works closely with local groups including the Ross-on-Wye Cancer Support Group, which provides vital emotional and practical support to individuals and families in the area, who now meet on the first Tuesday of the month at Costa Coffee from 2pm to 4pm.
