THE weekly carboot sale in Ross-on-Wye is to close immediately, a statement on social media informed its customers last week.

The post stated that planned carboot sale over the Easter weekend has also been cancelled.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “It is with sadness we have to announce the immediate closure of Ross-on-Wye boot sale."

"The boot sale that took place on March 29 was the last one we were able to operate - there will be no further boot sales at this site moving forward.

"Whilst not the news we or anyone else wants to hear, as soon as we were made aware, we shared it with all of you.”

The carboot sale in Netherton Road was a treasured destination for both locals and visitors alike and offered an eclectic mix of stalls featuring everything from handmade crafts to tools.

The outdoor setting created a relaxed atmosphere where you can leisurely browse through unique finds while enjoying free entry to the bootsale and parking.

The spokesperson concluded: "It has been a pleasure creating a community, making new friends, and even finding the odd bargain over the last three-and-a-half years, and thank you to everyone who has supported us."

The Facebook page for the Ross-on-Wye carboot sale and market has over 6,000 followers and is held among the pens and hardstanding of the livestock market.

The original Ross-on-Wye Car Boot Limited company folded in 2023 and was dissolved the following year.

And since this time a new management company had taken over the reigns of running the carboot sale in Ross. It benefitted from have the use of the barn for cover when it was wet.

Google Maps has since updated the tag for the Ross-on-Wye Car Bootsale and Market location by marking it as 'permanently closed'.
